The Plot.

In the late 1960s there were no CCTV or crime scene DNA testing, but disposing of a dead body was still bloody murder.

Black and white movie that IMDb characterizes as a comedy, horror, thriller movie. Nah. It's way more of a black comedy. There's no real horror and it's not so thrilling.

But it's well done and worth a watch. Kept me engaged for the short length of the film! That's a good thing.

I was surprised at how simple and good this movie is. Proof that you don't need a complicated plot to engage the audience. Just some good writing, decent acting and sharp directions/editing.

A couple work feverishly to cover up the mysterious killing in their home, but keep getting interrupted.

Brilliant performance by the lead actress. One thing I hate is cockney domestic aggression, Eastenders all that - "but I luvs ya, dahlin'!" British horror is full of it, coming off the back of the London soap opera industry. But this is so well written and performed, completely different experience.

The other actors are good too, although Lyle needed better diction - I'd say any audience outside the UK will need subtitles. The brother was played to type really well, and he does good close up, like the lead actress.

It looks great, especially the lighting - although some faces are obscured at odd times - and the 1970ish feel seems right. The nick nacks on the night stand are particularly authentic.

Story is pretty good, wrapping up nicely, and the direction and sound have lots of odd and interesting angles. But I felt the pace lagged a bit in the middle - maybe 72 mins was too long.

Overall, engaging psycho thriller, but a broader social setting would make it into a full movie.

Blood and carpet is an intriguing thriller, set in the 60's; its moody powerful plot and script had me rapt to the last. The atmosphere was beautifully recreated by the skillful acting enhanced by set, costumes and the music. The characters of Ruby and Stanley, played by Annie Burkin and Frank Boyce, transported me to an age and place, the world of North London 60's, which made this a mesmeric drama. This film noir needs to have world wide distribution and the acknowledgment it deserves. This is a must see film. The excellent script, direction and editing by Director Graham Fletcher Cook and his crew are the backbone to this well worked, produced film.
