In the "Aesop and Son" segment, "The Cat and Fifteen Mice", Moe the mouse sees the tom cat floating in the water and says, "Look Manny! A shipwrecked sailor!" Manny the mouse looks down and says, "That ain't no shipwrecked sailor!", to which Moe replies, "Florence Chadwick?" American swimmer Florence Chadwick (1918-1995) was famous for her long-distance, open water swimming feats in the 1950s. She swam the English Channel four times, becoming the first woman to swim the Channel in both directions, and breaking records along the way. In 1952 she became the first woman to swim the channel between Catalina Island and the California coast, and in 1953 she became the first woman to swim the Strait of Gibraltar (in overall record time) and the Bosporus and Dardanelles in Turkey.
