The Psi Alpha fraternity was shot in a Beverly Hills mansion that boasts Jennifer Lawrence, Charlie Sheen, Christina Aguilera as its next-door neighbors. Michael Bay appeared on set the very first day, as he was on a walk in the neighborhood, and Lawrence's and Sheen's houses are rumored to appear in the background of the film.

Matt Hagerty began writing the script on a Valentine's Day night because he was tired of refreshing the Facebook page of a girl he was upset over. He wrote over seventy pages of dialogue in one night, and used much of it verbatim in the final script. Hagerty says he has not rejoined Facebook since this initial deletion.

Four-time Emmy-winning sound mixer Ken S. Polk agreed to work on the film for 99% of his usual rate because he was so impressed with Hagerty's writing and sense of humor. Matt Hagerty approached Polk "on a whim" as a result of his role as a sound mixer on Juno (2007/I)_

Matt Hagerty directed the scenes he was not acting in from FaceTime in Cornell University's Mann Library. In fact, all of post-production took place remotely while Hagerty completed his second (and final) year at Cornell. As a result, Hagerty and co-star Jaimie Steck, who plays his ex-girlfriend in the film, have never met in person.

Emmy-winning actor Richard Schiff, who compared Matt Hagerty's dialogue-writing talents to those of his "The West Wing"_ creator Aaron Sorkin read off-camera with Seth Russell for his initial audition for The Drak (playing Hagerty's role of AJ Fitzpatrick). Schiff is also rumored to be responsible for the first sketch of the "bell curve" that features in the film when working with Russell for his audition.

The percussive score was inspired by the Broadway musical Hamilton, as a way of keeping the rhythm of the fast-paced dialogue without sacrificing comprehension.

The percussive, fragmented score also serves as a unit of chronology: if the film were played in linear narrative order, the score would be perfectly continuous.

The Delta Gamma Sorority recruiting video that appears in the film is the UCLA Delta Gamma chapter's recruiting video from the 2016-17 year.

All fraternities and sororities referenced in the film are real, with the exception of Psi Alpha.

Matt Hagerty made all of his actors watch the 1940 Howard Hawks film "His Girl Friday" to get a feel for the fast-paced dialogue.
