Dying Light (2017) Online

Great Britain, 1940. The German Luftwaffe relentlessly bomb British industrial targets and civilian centres. Two young boys, full of excitement at the adventures of wartime, witness a stray German plane shot down in the countryside near their village, and head off in search of the wreckage. What follows is an encounter with the wounded German pilot that changes the boys' innocently youthful perception of life and war.

The bedroom scenes were filmed in Blaenavon Ironworks, the same location used for BBC's The Coal House television series.

Several filmmakers involved in the production took part in South Wales' television training scheme 'It's My Shout', over various years. Writer/director Luke Andrews directed the short film Edna's Bench in 2010 (BAFTA Cymru nominated in 2011). First assistant director Graham Neale directed The Homing Bird in 2014 (BAFTA Cymru nominated in 2015). Producer Daniel J. Harris produced the short films Hiraeth and Pwyll in 2015. And in 2016, associate producer Edward Casey produced The Twelve Labours of Gryff and Leonard's Neighbours, whilst director of photography Keefa Chan filmed Tin Dancing Shoes, Penelope and Mirain A'r Mor.

Two BAFTA Cymru nominees and one BAFTA Cymru winner worked on Dying Light. Writer/director Luke Andrews was nominated for his BBC Wales short film Edna's Bench in 2011. First assistant director Graham Neale was nominated for his BBC Wales short film The Homing Bird in 2015. Director of Photography Keefa Chan won a BAFTA Cymru award (Best Cinematography) for his work on the documentary Fog of Sex: Stories from the Frontline of Student Sex Work.

Dying Light was filmed over four days, two in the village of Goodrich, Herefordshire, and two in the world heritage town of Blaenavon, Torfaen.
