He convinces Sister Bertrille to take over Dear Aggie duties until he can find a permanent replacement. Dear Aggie receives a letter from Margareta Pedrosa about her new boyfriend, who unbeknownst to Sister Bertrille/Dear Aggie is Carlos' mild mannered assistant, Roberto. Margareta appreciates Dear Aggie's advice. But Roberto consults Carlos, and Sister Bertrille consults Carlos when it comes to Margareta's letter, which leads to a mix of results for poor Roberto. Finally Carlos finds out that Sister Bertrille is Dear Aggie, and based on the problems it has caused for Roberto and Margareta, the Reverend Mother ends Sister Bertrille's life as Dear Aggie. The title is a parody based upon the advise column of Dear Abby started by the late Abigail Van Buren and now carried on by her daughter.

The home setting is the same as the one used in I Dream of Jeannie. It is especially obvious with the greenish glass portion to the kitchen.

The convent is searching for their cat Delphina. When they discover her with kittens they place an ad in The San Tanco Tribune. Inside Sister Bertrille finds sportswriter Rickie Malinas (Henry Corden) struggling with answering a personal letter submitted to Dear Aggie, a column he has taken over after Dear Aggie left. Sister Bertrille gives him an answer that was well received. He offers to save the kittens from the animal shelter if Sister Bertrille temporarily writes his column until the newspaper finds a suitable replacement. She reads a letter from a woman who likes a man she's met but is disappointed to receive a cheap piece of jewelry from him. The man is actually Carlos' righthand man Roberto (Michael Pataki). His girlfriend Margareta Pedrosa (Anita Rich) takes the column's advice that he should respect her more. Carlos lets Roberto take her out on his yacht. But the date is destroyed by Margareta's tagalong mother, suggested by Dear Aggie. Roberto is upset and Carlos goes to the newspaper where he learns the truth. Sister Bertrille tries to clear up the situation, but complications ensue when she mistakes Margareta's boyfriend to be Carlos.
