The film opens with 1942 footage taken from A Letter From Ulster when the US Troops based at Tynan Abbey, Armagh get the most important message of the week 'mails in'. We then cut to the exact same location nearly 70 years later in 2011 where one of the two mail/store huts remain perfectly preserved. The film goes on to explain why the original Ministry of Information film A Letter From Ulster was made and details more about the biographies of the film crew assembled which included some of the greats in post war UK film-making. As the release of Revisiting A Letter From Ulster in September 2011 coincided with the 25th anniversary of the death of the film's director, Brian Desmond Hurst, the documentary profiles the career of Ireland's most prolific film director of the 20th Century (Brian was profiled as Belfast's first Bohemian at special screening events at the 2011 Belfast Film Festival).
