Hollywood Hogan simply lied down and let Sting pin him in what was supposed to have been Hogan challenging Sting for the WCW World Heavyweight Title. Later that night, Sting threw out an open challenge and Goldberg, who had defeated Sid Vicious for the WCW United States Heavyweight Title earlier, answered and defeated Sting. The following night, the Title was declared vacant.

First mention of "the Powers That Be." As part of Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara's arrival, they made themselves the top heels leading to numerous references to the writers from "up North," as Russo and Ferrara had previously worked for the then-World Wrestling Federation. The Powers That Be would grow to a stable comprising Russo, Oklahoma (Ed Ferrara as a hideously unfunny Jim Ross parody), Creative Control (Ron and Don Harris as "Patrick and Gerald," a reference to Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco, who played Vince McMahon's "Stooges"), Curt Hennig, Jeff Jarrett, Shane (Mike Jones, aka Virgil, with the name a reference to Shane McMahon) and La Parka.

First WCW PPV appearance for Jeff Jarrett since Fall Brawl 1997.

Received an official VHS release in the USA (catalogue number T7194).

This was the first WCW PPV booked by Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara. What was supposed to launch a new era for WCW tanked, drawing a pathetic 0.52 buyrate.

Madusa walked out with a bottle of WCW Cologne, which was intended as a real product. She then said, "This is BULLSHIT!" and poured it over commentator Bobby "The Brain" Heenan's head. WCW's announcers would actually acknowledge how awful it was supposed to have smelled.

1. WCW Cruiserweight Title Match: Champ-Disco Inferno Vs. Lash Leroux - Nice opener and PPV advertise for Lash Leroux. Heely champion cleanly won. 8/10

2. Hugh Morrus/Brian Knobs Vs. Konnan/Kidman Vs. Harlem Heat - Stupid, that there were 2 referees, one did pin in a backstage area and one in the ring, then they wondered how it could even happen... Although I really don't like Konnan, I feel sorry for his injured shoulder. Harlem Heat are new champs. 6/10

3. Perry Saturn Vs. Eddie Guerrero - It should be great one, DQ ending quite ruined it. 8.5/10

4. Brad Armstrong Vs. Berlyn - Heh, Brad "The Jobber" Armstrong over Berlyn :) 7/10

5. WCW World Television Title Match: Champ-Chris Benoit Vs. Rick "Gay Biker" Steiner - Watching Steiners is so annoying. This type of heels is useless. Steiner is the chance how you can heard "Boring" chants in a match with Chris Benoit. In the end I have to say "Fu*k you, WCW" for pinning the best technical wrestler in WCW at this time by the one of the biggest stiffs in 1999. And give him AGAIN in two months TV title, after he squashed Saturn, another great athlete? This is my rating for Kevin "Big Dic*head and terrible booker" Nash, or was it Russo? 2/10

6. The Total Package Vs. Bret Hart - Lex Luger won. Unbelievable 6/10

7. WCW World Heavyweight Title Match: Champ-Sting Vs. Hulk Hogan - Yeah, Hogan Laid for Sting, I like that shi*t. 8/10

8. WCW U.S. Heavyweight Title Match: Champ- Sid Vicious Vs. Goldberg - Sid ended in a bloody mess and cannot continue. Goldberg won the belt. Interesting... 8/10

9. Strap Match: Diamond Dallas page Vs. Ric Flair - Brutal destruction of Flair. 8.5/10

10. Sting Vs. Goldberg - Good short match, but I hate that Sting again have to job to Goldberg. He's not so much worse wrestler, he's legend. They fought for 3 Times - 1 DQ and two Goldberg's victories. At Nitro, it should be Sting who win, but Hogan messed it. 7/10

Overall, except one match - it was pretty good!

Match 1: Disco Inferno (c) vs Lash LeRoux for the Cruiserweight Championship - For some reason, every title always had to be defended for WCW on a pay per view. This was a very decent title match to open the show. Disco Inferno got a lot of heat for being a comic character, but he did have some wrestling skills. In the end Disco retains the title in a very good match.

Match 2: The Filthy Animals (Billy Kidman & Konnan) vs Harlem Heat (Booker T & Stevie Ray) vs The First Family (Brian Knobbs & Hugh Morrus) in a Three Way Tag Team Hardcore match for the vacant WCW Tag Team Titles - A very short match. The hardcore wrestling wasn't particularly off the hook, but there were some nice spots throughout the match. In the end Harlem Heat captures the titles again after hitting Brian Knobbs with a plastic mummy backstage.

Match 3: Eddie Guerrero vs Perry Saturn - Very good mid card match. These two were very serious wrestlers in the ring and had some very high success during their tenures in WCW. Guerrero had just returned this year to WCW and had the fans on his side in this match with Saturn. The end result would be that this is definitely not a match worth skipping when watch the tape. Guerrero wins via disqualification when Ric Flair attacks him with a crowbar.

Match 4: Berlyn vs Brad Armstrong - Simple time filler for WCW. Nothing worth checking out. Brad Armstrong scores the win against Berlyn and after the match Berlyn and his bodyguard The Wall attack Armstrong.

Match 5: Chris Benoit (c) vs Rick Steiner for the WCW Television Championship - A pretty good match. Steiner normally wasn't memorable for his wrestling, but this wasn't too bad. Benoit is a really good all around technical wrestler and carried some good wrestling out of Steiner. Dean Malenko comes out and hits Benoit with a chair in the end. Steiner is able to win the Television Championship.

Match 6: Lex Luger vs Bret Hart - One good thing about WCW was that all the major people got a good spot on each event. This was a pretty decent match between Luger and Bret Hart, who both actually spent some time in the "WWF" before joining WCW. All in all it was a pretty nice match, Luger is able to win after making Hart submit.

Match 7: Sting (c) vs Hulk Hogan for the WCW Championship - Hogan comes out and lays down for Sting. Sting then scores the pinfall to retain. Huge waste.

Match 8: Sid Vicious (c) vs Goldberg for the United States Heavyweight Championship - It was booked very well considering that both were huge big man draws for WCW. Sid was out to be the next Goldberg and Goldberg taking offense to that went on the attack. It was very short and honestly live up to my expectations. Goldberg is able to win his second U.S. title by technical knockout on Sid.

Match 9: Diamond Dallas Page vs Ric Flair in a Strap Match - Pretty boring throughout most of the match. It was passable, but not worth checking out ten years later. DDP lands a Diamond Cutter on Flair for the win.

Match 10: Sting (c) vs Goldberg for the WCW Championship - Sting holds an open challenge for the belt and Goldberg accepts it. The match only went about 3 or 4 minutes and Goldberg eventually hoisted up Sting to win two titles in one night. Great ending, but the next night on Nitro we see Goldberg get stripped of the title.
