Dexter Let's Give the Boy a Hand (2006–2013) Online

Dexter secretly recognizes in the arrangement of body parts in a different style left by the Ice Truck Killer that he has studied his pictures with his family in his childhood and adolescence and is playing with his recollections in a sick and dark game rebuilding his past. The body parts are identified and belongs to security guard Tony Tucci; the arrogant Lt. Laguerta tries to comfort Tucci's mother after her accusations to her son in television. Angel tries to find an appropriate gift for his wife while Sergeant Dokes is chased by Guerrero's gang. Meanwhile a barking dog from Rita's next door careless and cynical neighbor is upsetting Rita and her children; near Halloween, she makes a move to resolve the situation.

In "Let's Give the Boy a Hand", the plot evolutes and Dexter's past is disclosed a little more through glimpses of his memories with his stepfather and his family. The human attitude of the arrogant Lt. Laguerta is a plot point in the story. The relationship of Angel with his wife was a great surprise, as well as the surprising rescue of Sgt. Dokes. My vote is eight.

The fourth episode in season one of Dexter comes one of the most chilling and twisted episodes yet. Things get deeper in regards to the Ice Truck Killer and more personal as well. I think that is what makes this episode more fascinating. I liked how we get more glimpses or flashbacks into the childhood of Dexter's and we can see what his life was like growing up. I liked how they incorporated all of that into this very interesting episode.

This episode, "Let's Give the Boy a Hand", has Dexter finding body parts of the Ice Truck Killer's next victim at personal places of Dexter's childhood.

Overall, this is one fascinating episode. I liked the plot and the subplots for this episode. This episode ended with a big bang since the final ten minutes were very good and it has a pretty neat, unexpected twist. I really enjoyed this episode on the whole. I rate this episode 9/10.

One of the "big" episodes of the first season of Dexter in that it sees the progression of the Ice Truck Killer storyline ("fresh" body parts, with blood flow, are left at different areas of Miami and they belong to the police's number one suspect, the night watchman), the relationship of Dexter and Rita (a miserable dog whines constantly because it isn't treated properly by its owner, with Rita setting her foot down despite the neighbor's bitchy, antagonistic, rude tone; taking it to a family that will love it, showing that she actually does have a backbone, and taking the first step in embracing sexual desire by giving Dex a blow job!), Dexter's secret investigation of the serial killer (the killer who invaded his home, set up the night watchman's body parts in areas extracted from photographs in Dex's album from his past, taken by Harry, left an "invite" to find the still-alive #1 suspect in the abandoned Angel of Mercy hospital), Debra's continual rise in her police department (stuck looking at surveillance tapes that might or (most probably) might not give them details on the killer's appearance by LaGuerta, a dispatched call (from Dexter, of course) leads her to the night watchman's whereabouts), a little development in the life of Detective Angel (David Zayas; he keeps requesting opinions from Dex on different jewelry gifts for his estranged wife, and the results continue to leave him discouraged), LaGuerta's humbling (after the unwise press conference calling the night watchman their killer, she must visit his mother to apologize; the mother, however, isn't angered towards her, but instead just wants LaGuerta to find her son; LaGuerta starts to allow Debra to slowly advance from the doormat position on her police squad), Doakes' hard times with his own cops and Guerrero's posted thugs as warning signs of a "return fire" soon to come (Doakes is eventually taken hostage, pummeled, and seems on the verge of being shot by Guerrero personally with those who set up the detective coming to his rescue, in turn admitting in their actions that this all was a sting to catch their drug-lord in the act of attempting to kill a cop), and ultimately Dexter's challenge regarding the "Code of Harry" (the ice truck killer leaves the night watchman on the slab awaiting execution, but Dex proves to him that he's not some garden variety psychopath; his code allows him not to just kill anyone, and that proves Harry's incredible influence on Dexter's growth and development from child to adult). Of course, as in each episode of the series, Dexter comments in narrative voice about "putting on his mask", so he continues to mimic human behavior although not truly feeling emotions is a burden he must forbear. The episode excellently takes us back and forth in flashback, connecting past events to present, and this all allows for a chess game between Dex and the ice truck killer who knows lots of intimate details.

Very good episode, more wonderful flashbacks of Dex and his dad. Harry: "You can't be a bully, Dexter. First of all, it's wrong. Secondly, people remember bullies. People like me, cops. A Bully is a felony waiting to happen. So..?" Dexter: "Blend in". Batista gets some scenes of his own, and is terrific in them. Dex really messes with him, unintentionally, Dex: ox?, Batista: f***!, it's x's and o's. Love Rita's neighbour, and the George Bush mask for Halloween hehe. Though seriously could of done without the Laguerta and Mrs. Tucci garbage.

Why does Doakes expect Dex to know why the killer is doing things? he's just the blood guy. ;]

The Doakes storyline came to an end in "Let's Give the Boy a Hand", and though its conclusion was satisfying and surprising, I can't help but feel that it was out of place in a show like Dexter. It played like a cop crime series, and while Dexter greatly involves crime and cops, it just was too disconnected from the Ice Truck Killer story. Luckily, that story got all the more interesting in this episode, as Tony Tucci was revealed to be not a suspect, but a captive of the killer. This leads to some good character development for Lt. LaGuerta (Lauren Veléz), as she tries to reassure Tucci's mother that they will find her son. This episode also greatly fleshes out the importance of the Code of Harry to Dexter, as upon finding a horribly mutilated Tucci begging for death, he refuses to kill an innocent man. It also shows that he does, in a way, care for Debra, as he tips her off for the credit. A better episode than the previous two, "Let's Give the Boy a Hand" makes the Ice Truck Killer all the more mysterious and horrifying.

Plot; The personal connection between Dexter and the so-called Ice Truck Killer becomes clearer.

This episode uses flashbacks perhaps more extensively than any previous episode, and to good effect. The relationship between a young Dexter and his adoptive Father really shines a light on what it is exactly that makes Dexter tick. W/8 episodes left in this first season, there really aren't any startling reveals, but the desire to know the identity of the season's big bad and his motivations only increases.

Secondary characters also get more than just token developments, w/one getting a side plot that is completely personal and has no connection to the bigger story at large and another that will have direct repercussions for Dexter himself. It's all good stuff, and serves to give the side players another dimension.
