The Brazilian version of the show used to divide one original character in two: In "Chiquititas Brasil" Sol became Dani and Maria; Guille was adapted into Guile and Samuca; Roña was made into Binho and Neco; and Corcho became Rafa, an orphan whose role was later replaced by Zeca.

Career debut of well known Brazilian professional actors and actresses, such as Fernanda Souza, Débora Falabella, Bruno Gagliasso and Sthefany Brito.

Entrepreneur and television presenter Silvio Santos, owner of SBT, wanted the show to be called "Pequeninas" (this being the literal translation to Brazilian Portuguese for the word "chiquititas"). However, he decided to keep the original title in order to gain more attention of the audience.

As in the original version, "Chiquititas Brasil" also had musical presentations on stage. They ran in 1998, between seasons Two and Three, in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The young cast members, alongside star Flávia Monteiro were all featured. The group was supposed to be on tour in other states, but the agenda was canceled due to budgetary issues.

Produced under an association between SBT and Telefe, and filmed in the same studios and locations the original Argentine version was shot (Buenos Aires being used as São Paulo for the story).

The story ran considerably faster than its original Argentine version. It is noticed by, for example, the timing that the character of Mili had in the show. In Chiquititas (1995), Mili, played by actress Agustina Cherri stood for three entire years in the series; while her Brazilian counterpart portrayed by Fernanda Souza stood for one year and eight months in the story, as complained by the actress herself in interviews.

The character of Pato, played by Camila Bordonaba, originally had a romance with Barracuda, portrayed by Diego García. Her Brazilian counterpart Fran, portrayed by Elisa Veeck, had a romance with Samuca instead, played by Jonatas Faro, and named Guille (Guillermo Santa Cruz)in the Argentine version. The change was made because the writers felt that Fran developed better chemistry with Samuca than with Janjão (Barracuda).

The character of Tatu Chico Abreu, originally a Season Three character, became so popular that he was kept in the story until its end. His Argentine counterpart Coco appears only for the third year.

Season Five was originally a new story, featuring new characters and a new setting (the inland granary), and differing from the previous four years, being the "Book of Life" the only connection between both stories. However, in "Chiquititas Brasil", the remaining characters in Season Four had only moved from the Raio de Luz manor to the granary, guided by Estrela. Estrela was a recurring character in Season Four, and became a protagonist in Season Five, assuming the original role of Candela.

The character of Fernando Brausen (as Facundo Brausen) was originally a more surly and impatient man than the amiable, sympathetic doctor that his Brazilian counterpart became. Actor Nelson Freitas was allowed to make this change by himself.

Actress Carla Diaz, who portrayed the orphan Maria, would have a role in another Cris Morena-based production 11 years after her departure from "Chiquititas Brasil". She played Márcia in "Rebelde", the Brazilian version of "Rebelde Way" and "Rebelde" (the Mexican series).

The longest and most recognized version of "Chiquititas" ever made by another country, with five seasons and a total of more than 700 episodes. The Portuguese series (which was a version of Chiquititas sin fin (2006)) was aired for fourteen months, and the Mexican series was canceled with an incomplete Season One.

Differently from the other cast members, actress Flávia Monteiro asked her figurine to have her own name instead of her character's name, Carol. Years later, Monteiro revealed a fear of being associated with Carol, which she stated she has overcame by saying that "there's no way out of it, since" she "was part of it all that years." She is "proud of being part of something so beautiful, that made a generation". Monteiro has declared that she is "the eternal Carol".

The characters of Cris and Dani were supposed to be part of the story until Season Four. However, Francis Helena was "too big" to be a "chiquitita", according to herself in interviews, she "was the last one to be informed. The uniforms no longer fitted" her, "but" she "enjoyed Cris' ending a lot". Giselle Medeiros also justified when asked about her departure, stating that it was her mother's decision. She "felt sad, but since she abandoned everything in Brazil to be with" her "in it", she "respected and had to accept". Cris and Dani were replaced by Tati and Maria, respectively.

While the series was shot in Buenos Aires, most of the additional music videos where shot in Brazil, many of them at touristic places. Season Five videos were shot in Fernando De Noronha.

Belén was a main character for the first four seasons, while her Brazilian counterpart Carol stood in the show for one more year, replacing the character of Ana in Season Five. Flávia Monteiro wanted to leave the show still in Season Three, one year before her character's story was supposed to end, but stood as Carol until the series' finale.

Carla Diaz asked to leave the series in Season Four, after three years as popular character Maria. Bruna was created to replace her in Season Five.

Characters Carol, Pata and Mosca are the only ones who appear in every season of the show. Pata and Mosca are the only ones to appear in every single episode, since Carol is absent for the first twenty of the fifth and final year.

Characters Ernestina and Matilde, which had no relation to each other in Chiquititas (1995), became identical twin sisters in Chiquititas Brasil (1997), both portrayed by Magali Biff.

Thiago Farias became a voice actor and voiced Pulga for the Brazilian airing of Chiquititas sin fin (2006).

In 2007, seven years after the end of "Chiquititas Brasil", SBT aired Chiquititas (1995) 2000 (the sixth season) as a single story. After the good ratings obtained, the channel aired Chiquititas sin fin (2006) in the following year.

In different seasons, Fernanda Souza (Mili), Jonatas Faro (Samuca), Sthefany Brito (Hanellore) and Nelson Freitas (Dr. Fernando) were contestants of Domingão do Faustão (1989)'s "Dança dos Famosos". Souza won in 2010.

Suzy Rêgo was considered for the role of Carol, but Flávia Monteiro was cast instead. Rêgo would years later portray Malvina in Floribella (2005), also created/produced by Cris Morena. Débora Olivieri (Carmem) also had a role in this series.

Several cast members of this series were reunited for an event promoted by fans, at the night of the Chiquititas (2013) 2013 series premiere.

According to Laura Feliciano, her character Laurinha (the living doll) was created by Cris Morena and the actress herself. When Feliciano was cast, her part was undefined until she was approached by Morena, who mentioned the living doll. Laura Feliciano suggested her own nickname "Laurinha" for the doll, and the character was created.

Bruno Gagliasso and Carmo Dalla Vecchia would later portray brothers once again in Joia Rara (2013).

Raining scenes were shot under real raining. The crew had no fake raining machine.

Renata Del Bianco used to train gymnastics in her breaks and was almost fatally injured. She was told to choose between training and acting, to which she choose the latter.

The orphan Tati, who was supposed to leave the story in Season Two, came back in the same season after a strong popular demand. She then assumed the role as a regular character of fellow intern Cris.

The Phantom-of-the-opera-styled character of Miguel, portrayed by Mateus Carrieri and introduced in Season Two, was created specially for this version. Miguel is Mili's father, who never appeared in the original version. A similar character with a different but similar background named Rafael Sander (Iván Espeche) was introduced in Chiquititas (1995) 2000.

Chiquititas was a hit-show/soap/musical about orphans kids who lived in a orphanage. It was in EVERY kid's life during the late 90's and early 2000's. There are two kinds of childhood: With Chiquititas and Without Chiquititas. Thank God I was part of the With Chiquititas childhood =D. Chiquititas was such a great hit that there were Cd's, dolls, clothes, shoes, posters and even magazines with its name, mostly sold out. The actors and the kids who were on it now are really famous actors and actress in Brazil.

The most important characters were Carol (woman who took care of the kids), and the kids Maria, Pata, Mosca, Fran, Neco, Lucia, Yuri, Samuca... those are the ones who lasted longer on their 5 years run. Their music lyrics, which was about parents, growing up, going after what you really want, love, life, friends, looking after each other..., were loved by children. The "Chiquititas moves" on the clips were always copied by children everywhere!

This series of the 90s was one of the last great productions for children in Brazil. Even making use of an imported franchise, they succeeded in adapting a universe as 'Mexican' as this with great richness and complexity for our reality. The series discussed serious issues in a light and exciting way for children, such as adoption, death, domestic violence, depression, anorexia, autism... some subjects that were never brought up to the children because they were considered "heavy". And all mixed with fantasy, imagery, with creative and fun clips. I am deeply nostalgic and it's a pity that the children of our generation have never experienced something like that.
