Almost 700 years ago, Jacques de Molay, the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar, ensured that his sword would not fell into the hands of the king when he surrendered. Back in Paris, Sydney starts searching for the sword, and soon she is with Nigel and Michel (Hugh Dancy), a young Frenchman, in dark tunnels below the city, attacked by an unknown enemy with a black mask.

The basic idea of the story echoes 'Excalibur', because the legend says that only someone who is pure at heart will be able to pull the sword out of the stone. Sydney would not even try, which gives food for thought about her shady past... Nigel is thinking the same as I, but his questions about former lovers and previous assistants are not answered by her.
